Process Unit Firefighting
The Process Unit Firefighting Program provides realistic and live, hands-on firefighting training that resembles the potential hazards that may occur in that member’s facility. This program also includes live LPG and flammable liquid fires, offensive and defensive strategies, as well as daylight and night fire attack scenarios.
The RTFC Industrial Process Unit training prop is used to create worst-case scenarios that may occur in these industries and is capable of providing a variety of LPG and flammable liquid fires.

Emergency Medical Training
All RTFC instructors are certified as Texas Department of Health EMT-B or Paramedic and experienced with presenting a variety of EMS courses including AHA’s First Aid/CPR/AED, Refresher, and Certification courses.

Hazardous Material
The RTFC Training Academy’s goal is to train individuals on how to appropriately respond to a release of a hazardous material(s). The multitude of training props available for Hazardous Material courses allow us to place trainees in a range of real life scenarios and prepare them to think quickly under pressure. Further objectives that meet the more aggressive roles include determining the appropriateness of personal protective equipment; decon setup; and plugging, patching or otherwise stopping the release of the hazardous substance for a variety of containers, rail cars, pipelines, process systems, and others.

High Angle & Confined Space Technical Rescue
Our academy’s rescue courses are very effective and thoroughly train individuals to respond to industrial, municipal, and other varieties of emergencies. These courses also cover specific areas like equipment identification for care and use, rope anchors, rigging and hauling system building techniques, patient access, packaging and extrication techniques, as well as rescuer responsibilities and safety practices.

Marine Firefighting
RTFC is responsible for protecting the Port of Corpus Christi Authority from any fire that occurs on vessels, docks, or any other facility in the ship channel. The Port of Corpus Christi Firefighting Barge and Firefighting Boat is operated by RTFC personnel.
RTFC personnel are well trained and skilled with the newest innovations in marine firefighting. As a result, they offer a wide variety of instruction and experience pertaining to marine vessel and facility-related emergencies.

Structural Firefighting
RTFC personnel are trained to respond to structures, buildings, and warehouses that are owned and operated by our members. As a result, the RTFC Training Academy is capable of building training courses that encompass all types of structural firefighting responsibilities. These courses are custom built to the member’s needs and include exterior fire attacks, apparatus placement, interior fire attacks, ladder operations, occupant searches, stand pipe and hose pack operations, ventilation operations, overhaul operations, Rapid Intervention (RIT) training, and much more.

Trench Collapse Rescue
RTFC is responsible for responding to its members’ trench rescue incidents. That’s why the RTFC Training Academy is equipped with a trench rescue trailer, fully stocked with hydraulic shoring and digging equipment. Highly qualified personnel present trench collapse training courses using trenches that are purposely collapsed during the scenarios. Trainees are required to use appropriate techniques to shore the trench prior to entering and extricating the patient.

LNG Firefighting
This is a 2 day course designed to familiarize students with LNG properties and characteristics so they can better deal with the hazards accompanied with LNG emergencies. Through instruction, hands-on presentation and live fire scenarios students will learn to control and extinguish LNG fires in a safe manor. Students will focus on dry chemical and high expansion foam applications to accomplish their objectives.
Upon completion of the course students will have gained the knowledge and the skills to allow them to safely and comfortably respond to an LNG emergency.
